The ACI Fund’s mission is to advance airport safety, security, management, economics, environment, sustainable development, and service excellence through targeted assistance and human resources development at member airports in developing nations.
In the least developed countries, financial resources for training can be limited, so the ACI Fund seeks to open the door to career development for individuals while, at the same time, building capacity and safeguarding and enhancing professional standards in this community of airports.
ACI Fund Governance
The ACI Fund is governed by its Council of nine dedicated aviation CEOs. They volunteer their time to help advance the needs of airport members from developing and least developing nations.
- Mr. Oris and Mrs. Sylvia Dunham (past Director General, ACI World)
- Mr. Ad Rutten (past President ACI Fund Council)
- Mr. James C. Cherry (past Chair, ACI World Governing Board)
- Dr. Luigi Sulmona (ACI Senior Faculty Member)
- Mr. Laurent Delarue (McGill University Lecturer)
- Mr. Damien Zaru (McGill University Lecturer)
The ACI Fund at work
The ACI Fund provides funding for developing and facilitating training seminars for airports located in the least developed countries, landlocked developing countries, and small island developing states.
Tuition assistance is also offered for airport professionals to participate in training provided by ACI Global Training on various courses and programs.
Oris and Sylvia Dunham Scholarship Endowment
In coordination with the ACI Fund and the International Airport Professional Community of Practice (IAP CoP), the Oris and Sylvia Dunham Scholarship Endowment will support scholarships for airport executives and other airport employees worldwide to attend qualifying educational programs administered by Airports Council International (ACI) World.
Safety and Security Reviews
The Airport Excellence Program provides hybrid remote and on-site safety and security peer reviews based on the application of ICAO standards, national regulations, and ACI best practices. The review serves to help airports improve and raise standards in operational safety and security.
The ACI Fund provides funding for airports that wish to subscribe to ACI accreditation programs like the Airport Health Accreditation program.
How can you help
The ACI Fund is raising funds to support this crucial work. The aviation ecosystem is strongest when it works together, and the ACI Fund needs help to break down the barriers that hinder its growth and reach.
We need to raise funds to cover the cost of facilitating training and access to essential industry programs like APEX to continue developing the knowledge and skills of airport professionals in developing countries.
