Darryl Dowd

Vice President of Safety, Security and Operations (incoming)

Office: Montreal

Darryl has over 20 years of aviation experience leading operations and strategy at international airports.

At Greater Toronto Airports Authority, he worked in several front-line operational roles before moving into strategic planning where he was instrumental in crafting Toronto Pearson’s extraordinarily successful hub strategy.

At Winnipeg Airports Authority as Director, Operations and later Vice President, Operations, Darryl supported successful Public Private Partnership (P3) bid to design, redevelop, and operate the Iqaluit International Airport. He also developed Canada’s first ISO 9001 certified airport operations centre, as well as led effort to make Winnipeg Richardson International Airport Canada’s most accessible airport by introducing autonomous wheelchairs, and programming designed to eliminate barriers for travellers.

As Chief Operating Officer at Southport Aerospace Centre Inc., Darryl led the organization through the creation of an energy and carbon management plan and advanced initiatives to position the organization to achieve net zero status by 2035. He also enabled organization-wide digital transformation in support of IT modernization efforts, addressing key IT elements to improve, address security vulnerabilities, and adopt IT best practices.
