This course will provide participants with an understanding of the fundamentals of airfield operations and the various activities it involves. Participants will also be introduced to the regulations pertinent to aerodromes, with emphasis on applicable ICAO Annex 14 Standards and Recommended Practices.
Learning Objectives
Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Gain an understanding of the civil aviation regulations and Standards and Recommended Practices relevant to ICAO Annex 14
- Describe the different components of an airport
- Gain a general awareness of airside physical characteristics (signage, markings) as well as lighting and navigation aids
- Apply the concept of safety management and safety culture in our workplace
- Identify the various rescue and firefighting activities and stakeholders involved
- Explain the importance of wildlife management at aerodromes
- Demonstrate how to conduct apron and airside inspections
- Discuss the importance of promulgation of information
