The Most Important Global Gathering of Airport Leaders to Take Place in Egypt in 2027

ACI World and ACI-LAC wrap up the Lima event and announce the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN) as the 2027 host

Lima, 29 September 2026 – Airports Council International (ACI) World and ACI Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) today concluded the ACI-LAC/World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition (WAGA), the most important global gathering of airport leaders. The event wrapped up in Lima, Peru, with the announcement that the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN) will host the 2027 edition in Sharm El Sheikh, co-organised by ACI Africa.

Building for expected demand

WAGA 2026 convened more than 600 senior executives from across the aviation ecosystem to address the industry’s most pressing challenges and long-term opportunities. Featuring over 50 expert speakers across 20 sessions, the event spotlighted both the resilience of the global aviation sector and the scale of what lies ahead. Passenger traffic continued to grow in the first half of 2026, despite geopolitical and economic headwinds, and is projected to double to 19.8 billion by 2047.

ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci said: “What stood out in Lima was how aligned our industry is. Airport leaders from every region left this week with a shared understanding of what the next decade demands: more capacity, the right conditions to facilitate investment and a passenger experience centred on people. Just as important, they left determined to deliver on it together. I thank Lima Airport and ACI-LAC for hosting an outstanding edition. We look forward to continuing these conversations in Egypt next year, another major gateway that showcases the power of connectivity.”

Save the date for 2027

The 2027 ACI Africa/World Annual General Assembly, Conference & Exhibition(opens in new tab) will convene in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, from 16 to 22 October of next year. Registration and programme details will be announced in 2027.
