Salary: $76,855 – $122,662 Annually, DOQ plus benefits
The Aviation Department which operates the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and the North Perry Airport (HWO) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Aviation Safety Manager. FLL is undergoing an expansion and capital improvement program which involves construction on both landside and airside operations. This is an outstanding opportunity for a candidate with aviation and construction experience to create and implement a safety program which will meet the requirements of all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations to ensure the safety and protection of employees, the public, and those working on airport property. The candidate must be able to work independently, create, implement and facilitate the acceptance of a safety culture for the airport and finally to implement, promote and educate employees, vendors and contractors working on the airport. This position shall be a liaison to other Aviation and County Departments, tenants and contractors. **MUST BE ABLE TO WORK NIGHTS, HOLIDAYS AND WEEKENDS PERIODICALLY BASED ON OPERATIONAL NEEDS**
Bachelor’s degree with major course work in Aviation Management, Industrial Safety or Hygiene, Public Administration, or other closely related field; Six (6) years management experience in developing and managing a comprehensive Aviation Safety Management System Program for a large governmental entity or private employer; or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
NOTE: All candidates must complete an extensive ten (10) year work history verification and criminal background check, including fingerprinting and all other information as required by the Federal Aviation Administration. *Post-offer physical examination including drug testing, ability to maintain authorization to drive a County vehicle. *Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge*.
