Short Tutorial Course
Delivery: Virtual

Duration: 1 day (4 hours)

The intersection between aviation security and facilitation is always challenging, and the balance between the smooth flow of passengers and the delivery of aviation security outcomes can be hard to achieve to facilitate the movement of all passengers, including those with disabilities.

In September 2022 ACI World launched its Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation Program, the first global program dedicated to improving airport accessibility for all, including for passengers with disabilities, and the adoption of the first Resolution on accessibility of air transport in October 2022 at the ICAO 41st Assembly.

This course will provide an overview of how security screening providers and airports can be aware of the accessibility needs of persons with disabilities and enhance their ability to best assist them.

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Better understand the needs of people with disabilities and challenges related to aviation security screening processes;
  • Examine the current opportunities for improvement that are available to security screening providers at airports;
  • Gain awareness of the initiatives and best practices key international and regional organisations are implementing; and
  • Explore the future improvement opportunities and challenges of emerging technologies might provide.
