Short Tutorial Course
Delivery: Virtual Classroom
Duration: 1 day (4 hours)

In light of the severe Covid-19 impact on air services, it is vital that airports are proactive in restoring air service.  This can be achieved by understanding their market, recovering suspended routes, maintaining existing routes, identifying potential new routes and marketing their airport to selected candidate airlines. Having an ‘Air Service Recovery Strategy’ and updating it regularly will greatly increase the chances of recovering air service and keeping your airport ‘top of mind’ when airlines consider route changes.

While air carriers will be looking at reinstating routes in the future, they do not always have the resources and local data to examine in detail all potential routes. Airports play a critical role in bringing route opportunities to the attention of carriers. The air service recovery strategy forms the basis for coordinating stakeholder support and ensuring that efforts and resources are focused on those opportunities with the greatest potential for success.  Air service recovery is a vital activity which should be at the centre of the strategic planning process for every commercial airport.
