ACI Appoints New Director of Communications and Events
MONTREAL, 7 October 2013 – Today, Airports Council International (ACI) announced the appointment of Martine Ohayon as Director Communications and Events, effective 7 October. She will be based at ACI World in Montreal, Canada.
Ohayon, a bilingual communications, finance and marketing professional, joins following her 18-year tenure in communications and event management at the International Air Transport Association (IATA). At IATA, her primary responsibility was to ensure that the association’s goals, mission and positions were well disseminated to promote the benefits of a safe and sustainable aviation industry as a catalyst of economic growth.
Ohayon also served as Director of Communications at Canada Steamship Lines and as Senior Counselor for the public relations firm Cohn and Wolfe. She has an extensive business background, including holding senior-level positions in finance and marketing. She succeeds Cheryl Marcell, who left ACI in June to become Deputy Director for Business Development at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport.
“Martine brings to ACI a solid understanding of the aviation industry and will be a key player in elevating airports’ interests, initiatives and achievements. She has broad communications and business experience, shares ACI’s vision and values including the need to collaborate with all stakeholders to achieve industry goals. I look forward to working with her to deliver added value to our members and the communities they serve,” said Angela Gittens, Director General, ACI World.
“Airports are at the heart of aviation and ACI is the global voice of airports. I am excited at the opportunity to join this dynamic organization, which has had such a positive impact on the vital aviation link that is airports. As we prepare to enter the second century of commercial aviation, I look forward to working closely with our members to showcase their commitment to customer service and operational excellence, and to raise awareness regarding the challenges that need to be addressed to ensure that airports are well-positioned to meet the rising demand for air travel,” said Ohayon.
Martine Ohayon holds a Bachelor of Administration with a Specialty in Finance from Les Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC).
